Believing is not Knowing

With each passing year we gain more and more knowledge about the world around us that allows us to discard falsehoods, such as the earth being the center of the universe and the world being a square. At one point we thought Vampires, Witches, & Lycans controlled our woods and people’s beliefs were so strong that they would kill a woman if she was suspected to be a witch. To think is to believe while to know is the truth. More often than not, our beliefs don’t  match up with the truth.

The thing that stomps me about the Belief versus Knowing battle is that people seem to think they are one single organism operating in sync with each other. The truth of the matter is a belief can be completely fictitious while the truth is only the truth.

If you are indoors and a known, trustworthy person comes in from outside and says; “Hey, it’s raining outside so you might want to get an umbrella.” You will most likely grab your umbrella and prepare to go out in the rain without checking for yourself first. When you open the door to find that there isn’t a cloud in the sky you are shocked. Why?

Now how did this happen??
1. Well it started with you having a lack of knowledge about the particular subject (outside). You were in one location (indoors) that didn’t provide information about the other location (outdoors). Simply put, it’s called Ignorance.
2. The source which you received the information from was thought to be trustworthy. How many times have you been lied to by a trusted source? That is yet another example of believing one thing and the truth being another.

There you have it, Ignorance & a Trusted Source can lead a person to ‘Believe’ just about anything under the sun. I can give you countless examples of a person believing one thing and the truth being another. From business, personal, family, religion, faith, to even you yourself, can lead you to believe something that isn’t truth.

Knowing and believing are not the same; actually they are completely opposite. Once you know something you no longer believe it because you now know it.

I will leave you with this to munch on:

I Know I typed this blog, why? Well because my fingers are literally typing the thoughts from my mind to this blog.

You Believe I typed this blog, why? Because you have a lack of knowledge about the particular subject & you trust JRight Live when is comes to blogs. Where you here when I typed this? Can JRight Live not lie to you? One could say “Why would JRight Live lie?” That honestly has nothing to do with nothing, just know that I could lie and you would believe something that isn’t true.
